  • Program Coordinator and Youth Worker

    Hello! I am Liz Boittiaux, Program Coordinator at Leave Out ViolencE, but first and foremost: I am a LOVE kid. Born in Winnipeg but raised in Dartmouth, I joined this organization when I was twelve years old. Throughout my time at LOVE, I have been to countries in Europe, facilitated many retreats, attended many LOVE Camps and after many years of learning from the best - Sarah Maclaren & Dennis Adams, I am proud to be who I needed when I was younger, and represent this wonderful organization with the BEST team this universe has to offer.

  • Program Coordinator

    Tanaysha Sack is a Mi’kmaw woman from Membertou and Sipekne'katik. Tanaysha graduated from Saint Mary’s University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and began her Master of Arts in Sociology at Acadia University in 2018. She is one of the 2016 recipients of the NIB trust scholarship and has published a research project on the financial literacy among Indigenous youth. Tanaysha works at the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission as the Indigenous and Mi’kmaq Education Officer.

    Jeffery Ward, a Mi’kmaw man, husband, father & grandfather. Currently, the General Manager of the Membertou Heritage Park. A graduate of CBU with a Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies. Currently part-time in the Master of Business Administration program. A First Aid/CPR Instructor for the past 15 years with The Canadian Red Cross, Volunteers on numerous boards & committees: the current Chair for BGCCB, former chair of CB YMCA and The Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance. Former Director of Eskasoni Crisis Center & Director of Operations for Metepenagiag. A leader with the White Eagle Sundance.

    Ella Knockwood is a Youth Worker from the Sipekne’katik First Nation Reserve in NS. She has been with LOVE since January 2019. Passionate about her work and all the youth at LOVE, Ella describes herself as a hard-working individual, invested in self-growth and committed to her community.

Finley TolliverSenior Program CoordinatorOver 25 years of experience, working with public and private sectors seeking success in education, employment, and life for youth. Member of Hip Hop group Universal Soul and avid basketball player.
  • Senior Program Manager and Facilitator

    Finley brings over 26 years of experience, working within public and private sectors supporting youth success in education, employment and life goals. A proud member of the Hip Hop group Universal Soul and an avid basketball player, Finley values creative and physical interests to support overall health.

  • Managing Editor - Euphoric Noise

    Kumi is a freelance artist and a member of the LOVE Leadership Program in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As the Managing Editor for Euphoric Noise, Kumi designs the magazine layout and manages art submissions and literature pieces. In their spare time, Kumi learns how to make games with Unity and creates wacky illustrations.

  • Executive Director/Chief Harmony Officer

    A registered social worker, Dennis combines his skills in non-profit management with over 30 years’ experience working with youth in Nova Scotia. In addition to working at LOVE for over 20 years, Dennis has served youth within regional school boards, large health centres and private practice. Well connected and respected in the community, Dennis’s commitment to LOVE has contributed to his receipt of a YMCA Peace Medallion Award and the Ronald Stratford Memorial Award Winner for Outstanding Contributions in Social Work in the Province of Nova Scotia.

  • Program Coordinator

    Leykey Beals is a Program Coordinator with LOVE’s Uphome Program in New North Preston. Leykey was first introduced to LOVE when he was in grade 10. The support and opportunities realized through LOVE has inspired him to offer the same to youth currently in the program. Opportunities such as getting his first job, traveling across Canada and attending an event with the first Black president of the USA are milestones and inspirations of the types of experiences Leykey wishes to facilitate for younger generations. Forever part of the LOVE family, Leykey is absolutely thrilled to work at the place they call home

  • Team Lead Program Coordinator

    Ryan Gannon, the Team Lead Program Coordinator at LOVE's Uphome Program in North Preston. Born and raised in the west-end of Halifax, into a huge family who emphasize the importance of community work at an early age, Ryan joined LOVE 21 years ago at the age of 15. As someone who has experienced LOVE's programming form the perspective of a youth, he is thrilled to be able to offer support to younger generations. With a background in the film industry, Ryan is passionate about supporting youth to have a voice through various mediums including the facilitation of video content and workshops.

    Laquanda is a Program Coordinator with LOVE’s Uphome Program in North Preston who has been involved with LOVE NS since she was a teenager. She hopes to help direct positive change by empowering youth in her community with tools she's learned from the program over the years. She enjoys spending time with her family, nature, exploring the world, and eating good food.

  • Chair

    Sobaz is the Founder and Executive Director of an innovative, arts-based, youth and adult engagement, empowerment and reintegration not-for-profit in Halifax, called In My Own Voice (iMOVe) Arts Association, (2007). He has filmed documentaries for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) receiving awards in Human Rights and directing from the National Film Board of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television.

    Jesse is from small town PEI. He's lived on 5 continents, speaks 4 languages, and has traveled to more than 50 countries. Jesse loves animals, food, and creating joy filled experiences.

    A LOVE alumni, Daria is excited to have the opportunity to serve as the Secretary. Educated in political science, she helped LOVE develop internal data collection systems to better communicate the organization's social impact. A believer in community and staying connected, Daria is a proud dog parent of chihuahua and pug mix, Luna, who you can catch on Instagram

    A north end resident of 20 years, Shannon is a community advocate who believes in empowering individuals groups and communities to become the source of their own success.

    The Manager of Community Programming and Common Good Solutions who grew up in Uniacke Square, Martez thrives off supporting grass-roots connections and initiatives.

  • Youth Representative

    The capacity to make a positive impact through a strong organization with a strong reputation has kept Shawtay Rose involved with LOVE for over 13 years. In her free time you can find her loving her dog Patches, an American Stafford Shire Terrier (a rescued rescue)

    George has been involved with LOVE since he was a teenager and values this opportunity to give back. His clear view of what LOVE is about and what it stands for continues to support him in helping at risk youth in the community.
