We need to talk.

Conversation for Change with Shawntay Rose Dann

LOVE Nova Scotia is proud to announce a new youth-led program initiative: Conversation for Change.

In 2020, psychologists from Saint Marys University in Halifax evaluated LOVE youth. Through their work, they discovered that 93% of LOVE youth said they like to talk with people who’s ideas and beliefs are different than their own. When we surveyed our community, that number was closer to 80%. This disparity made us realize that our youth are uniquely positioned to ask hard questions, dig for the truth, and use their emotional resilience to overcome differences.

In response to their tremendous leadership, LOVE Nova Scotia will be launching a series of conversations designed to probe political leaders, community leaders, and business leaders about how we all belong in the 21st century. The divisions between race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, and however else you’d like to divide us, cannot persist. We see the humanity in each of us.

It’s time to ask the big questions. It’s time to get uncomfortable. It’s time for change.
